Virtual Reality Photography FAQ's
Here are a number of common questions relating to iPIX virtual tours.
How is an iPIX virtual tour created?
An iPIX virtual tour is created by taking two hemispheric photographs from the same position, in opposite directions. These two pictures capture the whole environment, from floor to ceiling.
Before the virtual tour is created, the photos are checked and retouched where necessary. At the client's request, we can also remove sensitive or other personal elements from a picture (car registrations, valuable items etc.)
The two photos are then carefully 'stitched' together which forms the iPIX image.
What is the difference between iPIX and other similar virtual tours?
iPIX is the only system that uses just two photographs to create a true 360° x 360° image.
Other virtual tours require many more photos to be taken and stitched together.
Perspective is often visibly distorted and you're not able to look around the whole room (floor to ceiling).
Why is there a logo at the base of most photos?
The logo hides the tripod, which is captured during the photo shoot. If you prefer not to have a logo in your pictures, the photos can be retouched& the tripod removed.
Can I have my own custom logo in a virtual tour?
Yes, we offer the option of including your own logo in the photos.
How do I integrate an iPIX image into my existing web site?
Are iPIX images compatible with all Internet browsers?
iPIX images can be viewed using the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer 4.01 or later for Windows
- Netscape 4.05 or later for Windows
- Internet Explorer 4.5 or later on MAC OS 8.5-9
